Section 2-405 - Vacancies During Interim

(a) This section applies only to a vacancy on the Committee that occurs while the General Assembly is not in session. (b) (1) If a vacancy occurs in one of the offices of cochairmen of the Committee, a successor shall be elected: (i) for the Senate cochairman, by the Senators on the Committee; and (ii) for the House cochairman, by the Delegates on the Committee. (2) If vacancies occur in both offices of the cochairmen of the Committee, the successors shall be elected from among the remaining members of the Committee by those members. One of the cochairmen shall be a Senator, and one shall be a Delegate. (c) (1) If a vacancy occurs among the Senators on the Committee, a successor shall be appointed by the President. (2) If a vacancy occurs among the Delegates on the Committee, a successor shall be appointed by the Speaker.
