An otherwise eligible returning veteran who was hospitalized at the time of discharge, end of enlistment, or relief from active duty may apply for reinstatement if: (1) the application is submitted within 90 days after the returning veteran is discharged from the hospital; and (2) the hospitalization does not last more than 1 year from the date of discharge, end of enlistment, or relief from active duty.
