(a) An employee of the Town of Oakland who was an employee on June 30, 2000, and who remains an employee on June 30, 2003, shall receive additional service credit to equal the total eligibility service and creditable service accrued prior to the effective date that the Town of Oakland began participating in the Employees’ Pension System, as certified by the Town of Oakland. (b) If an employee or a former employee of the Town of Oakland becomes a member of the Employees’ Pension System at any time after the effective date that the Town of Oakland began participating in the Employees’ Pension System, the employee may not receive service credit for employment with the Town of Oakland before the effective date that the Town of Oakland began participating in the Employees’ Pension System.
