(a) In accordance with 49 U.S.C. § 5329, the Office of the Secretary shall serve as the State Safety Oversight Authority for the Maryland Transit Administration’s light rail transit system and Metro subway. (b) The Maryland Transit Administration’s light rail transit system and Metro subway shall be subject to the Office of the Secretary’s rules, actions, and orders. (c) The Office of the Secretary may adopt regulations to carry out this section.
