Service members shall use the items of military property for military purposes only and, upon being discharged, transferred or otherwise separated from military service or upon the demand of a commanding officer, shall immediately deliver the items to the commanding officer or any officer ordered to receive them in good order and condition, fair wear of the items excepted.
