All companies operating under the four preceding sections shall remain subject to the duties and liabilities imposed by other provisions of law consistent with said sections, and shall have the powers, duties and rights therein authorized, all of which shall be in addition to and in amendment of any charter or special provision of law or of the general laws under which they are organized.
