Pending the appeal, the juvenile court shall retain jurisdiction and may enter any order under this chapter to meet the needs of the child. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the appeal shall be to a single justice of the appeals court under section 118 of chapter 231 and shall proceed in accordance with the procedures governing petitions to a single justice.
