A society shall annually, on or before March 1, file with the commissioner, in such form as he may require, a statement on oath of its president, secretary, treasurer and chief accountant, or corresponding officers, of its condition and standing on December 31 of the preceding calendar year, and of its transactions for the year ending on that date. A society shall also furnish such other information as the commissioner may deem necessary. The commissioner may at other times require any further statement relating to such society as the commissioner deems necessary.
