168.531 Primary elections; nomination of candidates by direct vote. Sec. 531. Whenever any primary election shall be held in this state or in any city, county or district in this state, the nomination of candidates shall be made by direct vote of the qualified and registered electors of each political party participating therein as hereinafter prescribed.
