333.16657 Referrals; beyond scope of practice.Sec. 16657. (1) A supervising dentist shall arrange for another dentist or specialist to provide any services needed by a patient of a dental therapist who is supervised by that dentist that are beyond the scope of practice of the dental therapist and that the supervising dentist is unable to provide. (2) A dental therapist, in accordance with a written practice agreement entered into under section 16655, shall refer patients to another qualified dental professional or health care professional to receive needed services that exceed the scope of practice of the dental therapist.
