Sec. 501. (1) After installation and commencement of operation of a 9-1-1 system implemented pursuant to this act, a public safety agency serving a public agency or county within the 9-1-1 service district may be added to the 9-1-1 system as a PSAP or a secondary PSAP by giving written notice of intent to function as a PSAP or secondary PSAP as provided in section 307 to the county clerk. Within 5 days of receipt of the notice, the county clerk shall forward the written notice to the service supplier. The public safety agency shall commence to function as a PSAP or secondary PSAP as soon as feasible after giving the written notice. (2) The costs of equipment installation or system modification, or both, necessary for a public safety agency to function as a secondary PSAP pursuant to subsection (1) shall be paid directly by the public safety agency and shall not be collected from service users in
