500.220 Insurance commissioner and employees; service fees, prohibited gifts. Sec. 220. The commissioner shall not retain as perquisites any fees or any moneys received by him directly or indirectly, for the performance of duties connected with his office. No insurance corporation or insurer or any officer, director, or agent thereof shall directly or indirectly, pay by way of gift, credit, loan or any other pretense whatsoever, any sum of money or other valuable thing to the commissioner, his deputies or any clerk or employee of the insurance department for extra service; and it shall be unlawful for the commissioner, his deputies or any clerk or employee of the insurance department to accept any such payment for extra service except such fees as may be specifically authorized by law to be paid to the commissioner to be covered into the state treasury.
