500.226 Disclosure of confidential information; penalty. Sec. 226. The commissioner or any of the commissioner's employees or agents shall not divulge confidential information acquired in the course of an examination or investigation except as permitted by section 222(7). A person appointed or acting under this act who discloses any fact or information that is confidential under this act is guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of not more than $1,000.00, or imprisonment of not more than 1 year, or both.
