§ 500.3505

500.3505 Health maintenance contract; use of descriptive words; restrictions.Sec. 3505. (1) A health maintenance organization shall not issue a health maintenance contract before it receives a certificate of authority under this act. (2) A person shall not use the term health maintenance organization to describe or refer to a person, and a person shall not use any other descriptive words that may mislead, deceive, or imply that it is a health maintenance organization, unless the person described or referred to has a certificate of authority as a health maintenance organization under this act. (3) Except as otherwise provided in this subsection, a health maintenance organization shall not use in its name, contracts, or literature the words 'insurance', 'casualty', 'surety', or 'mutual' or any other words descriptive of an insurance, casualty, or surety business or deceptively similar to the name or description of an insurance or surety corporation doing business in this state.
