(1) Except with respect to statements which are subject to prosecution for perjury, as defined in section 423 of Act No. 328 of the Public Acts of 1931, being section 750.423 of the Michigan Compiled Laws, a person, or an agent, director, or officer of a health care corporation, who knowingly makes any false oral or written statement as to a material fact, in or with respect to a report required by this act, or in the course of a hearing or examination held pursuant to this act, is guilty of a misdemeanor.
