600.1861 Service of process; by service on public officer, copy to nongovernmental defendant. Sec. 1861. When service is made on a non-governmental defendant by service on a public officer, the officer or his deputy shall forthwith forward by registered mail, postage prepaid, a copy of the summons and complaint, directed to the secretary or corresponding officer of the defendant, or other appropriate person.
