600.4304 Habeas corpus; power to issue writ. Sec. 4304. The writ of habeas corpus to inquire into the cause of detention, or an order to show cause why the writ should not issue, may be issued by the following: (1) The supreme court, or a justice thereof. (2) The court of appeals, or a judge thereof. (3) The circuit courts, or a judge thereof. (4) The municipal courts of record, including but not limited to the recorder's court of the city of Detroit, common pleas court, or a judge thereof. (5) The district courts, or a judge thereof.
