600.4387 Habeas corpus; liability of officer for disobedience to writ. Sec. 4387. Whenever any writ of habeas corpus is issued pursuant to section 4385, the officer on whom the writ is served shall obey the writ in the manner and within the time prescribed by statute or court rule. Every officer who neglects or refuses so to do, is liable in the sum of $500.00 to: (1) the people of this state, if the writ was issued upon the application of the attorney general, or a prosecuting attorney; or (2) the party upon whose application the writ was issued.
