127A.852 MILITARY-CONNECTED YOUTH IDENTIFIER. (a) When a school district updates its enrollment forms in the ordinary course of business, the district must include a box on the enrollment form to allow students to self-identify as a military-connected youth. For purposes of this section, a 'military-connected youth' means having an immediate family member, including a parent or sibling, who is currently in the armed forces either as a reservist or on active duty or has recently retired from the armed forces. (b) Data collected under this section is private data on individuals, as defined in section 13.02, subdivision 12, but summary data may be published by the Department of Education.
