252A.09 APPOINTMENT OF COUNSEL. Subdivision 1. Attorney appointment. Upon the filing of the petition, the court shall appoint an attorney for the proposed person subject to public guardianship, unless such counsel is provided by others. Subd. 2. Representation. Counsel shall visit with and, to the extent possible, consult with the proposed person subject to public guardianship prior to the hearing and shall be given adequate time to prepare for the hearing.
