484.31 NONATTENDANCE OF JUDGE; ADJOURNMENT. If the judge fails to attend on the day appointed for holding court, the sheriff or court administrator may open court and adjourn the same from day to day; but, if the judge does not appear by 4:00 p.m. of the third day, one of said officers shall adjourn the term without day, and dismiss the jurors; provided, that such court administrator or sheriff, upon the direction of the judge, and without the judge's presence, may adjourn any general or special term to a day certain, in which case the jurors, if any, shall attend on such day without further notice.
