97B.716 PRAIRIE CHICKENS. Subdivision 1. License required. A person may not take a prairie chicken without a prairie-chicken license. Subd. 2. Registration. The commissioner may by rule prescribe requirements for the registration of prairie chickens. [See Note.] Subd. 3. Limited number of prairie-chicken hunters. The commissioner may establish a method, including a drawing, to impartially select persons eligible to take prairie chickens in an area. Preference must be given to persons who have previously applied in the general selection but have not been selected. History: 2002 c 351 s 19; 2024 c 90 art 1 s 45 NOTE: The amendment to subdivision 2 by Laws 2024, chapter 90, article 1, section 45, is effective upon full implementation of the replacement electronic license system. The commissioner of natural resources must notify the revisor of statutes when the replacement electronic license system is fully implemented. Laws 2024, chapter 90, article 1, section 52.
