In all suits or actions in any court, it shall be lawful for the plaintiff and defendant to consent to a rule of court referring all matters in controversy between them in such suit or action to the arbitrament of any person or persons who may be mutually chosen by them; and the award of such arbitrators being made and returned according to the rule of submission of the parties, approved by the court and entered of record, shall have the same effect as the final judgment or decree of the court into which such award may be returned, and execution may issue thereon accordingly; and like proceedings may be had, where applicable, as is provided in other cases.Codes, 1892, § 112; 1906, § 113; Hemingway's 1917, § 100; 1930, § 98; 1942, § 296.
