Section 17-11-33 - Acquisition of property

To carry out the powers and authority conferred by this chapter, the district is authorized either directly, or through the public agency involved in an approved project, to acquire land, and interests in land, property, and interest in property, including but not limited to rights, easements, licenses, franchises, and privileges therein necessary or required to carry out such approved project. The right to exercise the power of eminent domain shall be exercised only by the governing bodies of the political subdivisions within whose boundaries such approved project is to apply, as provided for by Chapter 27 of Title 11 of the Mississippi Code of 1972, and shall be subject to the same limitations as are now or may hereafter be imposed by law.Codes, 1942, § 9054-66; Laws, 1971, ch. 517, § 16, eff. 4/14/1971.
