Section 17-17-401 - Legislative findings

The Legislature finds that:(a) Uncontrolled disposal of waste tires may create a public health and safety problem because tire piles act as breeding sites for mosquitoes and other disease-transmitting vectors, pose substantial fire hazards and present a difficult disposal problem for landfills.(b) A significant number of waste tires are illegally dumped in Mississippi.(c) It is in the state's best interest to encourage efforts to recycle or recover resources from waste tires.(d) It is desirable to discourage the landfilling of whole waste tires.Laws, 1991, ch. 531, § 1, eff. 7/1/1991.
