The board of supervisors of any county in which is located, in whole or in part, a federal flood control reservoir, of a federal waterway, is authorized and empowered, in its discretion, to expend out of the general fund of the county a sum not to exceed five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) for the purchase of a power-driven boat and related marine equipment for use by the sheriff in rescue, search, and general patrol and enforcement work, and for no other purpose.The cost of operation and maintenance of said boat and equipment shall be paid by the board of supervisors out of the general fund, but these payments shall not be considered a part of the Five Thousand Dollar ($5,000.00) limitation stipulated above.
