Section 19-5-356 - Continuing education courses

(1) After any telecommunicator has received his or her initial minimum standard of training and has been issued the 'Certification of Minimum Standards,' such telecommunicator shall complete forty-eight (48) hours of continuing education courses every three (3) years. The continuing education courses, required pursuant to this subsection, must be approved by the Board of Emergency Telecommunications Standards and Training.(2) The Board of Emergency Telecommunications Standards and Training shall reimburse each agency for the expense incurred by telecommunicators who attend approved continuing education courses as required by this section.(3) For purposes of this section, 'telecommunicator' means any person engaged in or employed as a telecommunications operator by any public safety, fire or emergency medical agency whose primary responsibility is the receipt or processing of calls for emergency services provided by public safety, fire or emergency medical agencies or the dispatching of emergency services provided by public safety, fire or emergency medical agencies and who receives or disseminates information relative to emergency assistance by telephone or radio.
