Section 37-33-59 - Duties of department

The department shall provide vocational rehabilitation services to individuals who are blind who are determined by the department to be eligible therefor, and in carrying out the purposes of the Vocational Rehabilitation for the Blind Law, the department is authorized among other things:(a) To cooperate with other departments, agencies and institutions, both public and private, in providing for the vocational rehabilitation of individuals who are blind, in studying the problems involved therein, and in establishing, developing and providing, in conformity with the purposes of that law, such programs, facilities and services as may be necessary or desirable;(b) To conduct research and compile statistics relating to the vocational rehabilitation of individuals who are blind;(c) To prescribe and provide such courses of vocational training as may be necessary for the vocational rehabilitation of individuals who are blind.Codes, 1942, § 6508.5-04; Laws, 1948, ch. 303, § 4; Laws, 1975, ch. 434, § 4; Laws, 1989, ch. 544, § 94, eff. 7/1/1989; Laws, 2002, ch. 463, § 17, eff. 7/1/2002.
