Section 37-9-11 - Testing of applicants for teacher licensure

The State Board of Education is authorized and directed to require tests or an examination of achievement as one of the requirements for the issuance of public school professional licenses issued after July 1, 1997, to any person applying for the first time for a professional license.Scores on said test or tests shall be made a part of the record of the applicant and maintained in the files of the Office of Teacher Certification and Licensure Division of the State Department of Education.The State Board of Education is further authorized at its discretion to make determinations of minimum scores required of a person applying for the first time for a professional license.The State Board of Education shall, at its discretion, determine conditions that would prevail should a person desire to take said test or tests more than once.Codes, 1942, § 6244-31; Laws, 1971, ch. 357, § 1; Laws, 1997, ch. 545, § 6, eff. 4/10/1997.
