Where any public library or public library system is established under this article, either by the county board of supervisors or the governing body of a municipality, the cost of purchasing land, erecting buildings and equipping and maintaining such public library or public library system shall be paid for in whole out of the general funds of the county or municipality.Codes, 1942, § 6201; Laws, 1938, ch. 289; Laws, 1958, ch. 479; Laws, 1986, ch. 400, § 21; Laws, 1988, ch. 589, § 9, eff. 7/1/1988.
