The purpose of Sections 41-19-251 et seq. is to create, construct, equip, and maintain two (2) facilities for the acute care treatment of persons with mental illness who have been committed by the chancery court pursuant to Section 41-21-61 et seq., which shall be known as the North Mississippi State Hospital and South Mississippi State Hospital. The South Mississippi State Hospital shall not be constructed or established until such time as sufficient funds have been appropriated or otherwise made available for that purpose by the Legislature.Laws, 1995, ch. 545, § 1, eff. 7/1/1995.
