The board of supervisors of any county and the mayor and board of aldermen, or other governing body of any municipality, are hereby authorized and empowered, in their discretion, to construct and erect radio substations and booster stations for the use of the highway safety patrol, to install therein suitable and necessary radio receiving and transmitting equipment, and to appropriate funds for such purposes from the general county or municipal fund, as the case may be.In the purchase and installation of such radio transmitting and receiving equipment the said board of supervisors or governing authority may authorize the commissioner of public safety to make the purchase and installation thereon on behalf of the county or municipality, as the case may be, and may pay the cost of such purchase and installation out of the county or municipal general fund.Codes, 1942, § 8090-02; Laws, 1948, ch. 344, § 1.
