Section 47-5-143 - Offender's petition for change of name; definitions

For purposes of this section and Section 47-5-145, the following words shall have the meanings ascribed herein unless the context otherwise requires:(a) 'Change of name petition' means a petition to change the legal name of an individual.(b) 'Offender' means any physically incarcerated person convicted of a crime or offense under the laws and ordinances of the state and its political subdivisions or the laws and regulations of the federal government.Added by Laws, 2022, ch. 425, SB 2263,§ 2, eff. 7/1/2022.Repealed by Laws, 1976, ch. 440, § 92, eff. 7/1/1976.§ 47-5-143.
