There is established in the State Treasury a special fund to be designated as the 'Multi-Modal Transportation Improvement Fund' into which shall be deposited such state funds as may be designated for deposit therein. Unexpended amounts remaining in the fund at the end of the state fiscal year shall not lapse into the State General Fund, and any interest earned on amounts in the fund shall be deposited to the credit of the fund. Money in the fund shall be expended by MDOT as provided for in this article for the improvement of airports, ports, railroads and transit systems in Mississippi.Laws 2001, ch. 552, § 2, eff. 7/1/2001.
