Any highways or highway segments authorized to be constructed or improved by the Mississippi Department of Transportation or political subdivision under the provisions of this chapter shall be constructed or improved to bear a load limit of at least eighty thousand (80,000) pounds.For any project approved from and after April 12, 1993, if at the time the project is approved the highways or highway segments to be constructed or improved are a part of the designated state highway system, then maintenance on such highways or highway segments after completion of the project shall be performed by the Mississippi Department of Transportation and shall be constructed to Transportation Department standards.
