Section 69-8-3 - Definitions

For the purposes of this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings ascribed to them herein unless the context clearly indicates otherwise:(a) 'Producer' means any person who owns or acquires ownership of cattle, except that a person shall not be considered to be a producer if that person's only share in the proceeds of a sale of cattle or beef is a sales commission, handling fee or other service fee.(b) 'Collecting person' means any livestock dealer licensed under the Packers and Stockyards Act of 1921, as amended, who makes payment to a producer for cattle purchased in Mississippi.(c) 'Council' means the 'Mississippi Beef Industry Council.'(d) 'Commissioner' means the Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce for the State of Mississippi.
