Section 71-5-123 - [Repealed effective 7/1/2027] Advisory Councils

The executive director shall retain all powers and duties as granted to the state advisory council appointed by the former Employment Security Commission. The executive director may appoint local advisory councils, composed in each case of an equal number of employer representatives and employee representatives who may fairly be regarded as representative because of their vocation, employment or affiliations, and of such members representing the general public as the executive director may designate. Such councils shall aid the department in formulating policies and discussing problems related to the administration of this chapter and in assuring impartiality and freedom from political influence in the solution of such problems. Members of the advisory councils shall receive a per diem in accordance with Section 25-3-69 for attendance upon meetings of the council, and shall be reimbursed for actual and necessary traveling expenses.
