(1) It shall be the duty of the Mississippi Bar, by and through its president, to recommend to the State Legislature such legislation relating to the courts, to matters of pleading, practice and procedure, and any other legislation which in its judgment will improve the courts and the law, or render the members of the bar more efficient as ministers of justice and the courts more efficient as instrumentalities for its attainment.(2) The bar shall have the right to make rules and bylaws not in conflict with any of the terms of this article concerning the selection and tenure of its officers and committees and their powers and duties, and generally for the control and regulation of the business of the board and of the bar.(3) The bar shall have the authority to hold and conduct educational and social meetings and activities among the members of the bar, to publish journals and generally to do such things as in their judgment may tend to improve the educational and ethical standing of the bench and bar.Codes, 1942, § 8709; Laws, 1932, ch. 121; reenacted without change, Laws, 1983, ch. 302, § 23; Laws, 1991, ch. 526, § 25; reenacted, Laws, 1992, ch. 515, § 25, eff. 7/1/1992.
