Section 73-30-1 - Declaration of policy and legislative intent

It is declared to be the policy of this state that the activities of those persons who render services to the public as licensed professional counselors and use the title 'Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor' (P-LPC) or 'Licensed Professional Counselor' be regulated to ensure the protection of the public health, safety and welfare.It is the intent of the Legislature to provide for the regulation of the practice of counseling as well as the use of the title 'Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor' or 'Licensed Professional Counselor' for those who offer services to the public for a fee, monetary or otherwise.Laws, 1985, ch. 354, § 1, eff. 7/1/1985.Amended by Laws, 2018, ch. 390, HB 708,§ 1, eff. 7/1/2018.
