It is declared to be the policy of the State of Mississippi that the profession of social work affects the public health, safety and welfare and requires appropriate regulation and control in the public interest. It is the intent of this chapter to protect the people of Mississippi by promoting high standards of professional performance for those engaged in the profession of social work by regulating the title and by setting standards of qualification, education, training and experience for those who engage, or seek to engage, in the practice of social work.Laws, 1987, ch. 421, § 1; Laws, 2011, ch. 462, § 1, eff. 7/1/2011.
