Section 83-17-19 - Penalty for soliciting without license

Every person who, either as principal or agent or pretending to be such, shall solicit, examine, or inspect any risk, or shall examine into, adjust, or aid in adjusting any loss, or shall receive, collect, or transmit any premiums of insurance, or shall do any other act in the soliciting, making, or executing of any contract of insurance of any kind otherwise than this chapter permits shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, on conviction, shall pay a fine of not less than Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) nor more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), or be imprisoned not less than one (1) nor more than two (2) years, or both, in the discretion of the court.Codes, 1906, § 2658; Hemingway's 1917, § 5124; 1930, § 5204; 1942, § 5718.
