Section 89-1-9 - The rule in Shelley's Case abolished

A conveyance or devise of land or other property to any person for life, with remainder to his heirs or heirs of his body, shall be held to create an estate for life in such person, with remainder to his heirs or heirs of his body, who shall take as purchasers, by virtue of the remainder so limited to them.Codes, 1880, § 1201; 1892, § 2446; 1906, § 2776; Hemingway's 1917, § 2280; 1930, 2114; 1942, § 835.
