(1) An attorney for a respondent in a proceeding under this chapter may be awarded reasonable compensation for services and reasonable expenses in the discretion of the court.(2) An attorney or other person whose services resulted in an order beneficial to a ward may be awarded reasonable compensation for services and reasonable expenses in the discretion of the court.(3) The court must approve compensation and expenses payable under this section before payment. Approval is not required before a service is provided or an expense is incurred.(4) If the court dismisses a petition under this chapter and determines the petition was filed in bad faith, the court may assess any costs and attorney's fees the court deems appropriate.Amended by Laws, 2020, ch. 344, SB 2874,§ 8, eff. 6/23/2020.Added by Laws, 2019, ch. 463, SB 2828,§ 1, eff. 1/1/2020.
