Section 97-11-31 - Embezzlement; fraud committed in public office

If any officer, or other person employed in any public office, shall commit any fraud or embezzlement therein, he shall be committed to the department of corrections for not more than ten (10) years, or be fined not more than five thousand dollars ($5,000.00), or both.Codes, 1880, § 2790; 1892, § 1066; 1906, § 1144; Hemingway's 1917, § 872; 1930, § 897; 1942, § 2123; Laws, 1979, ch. 508, § 15, eff. 11/15/1979 (the United States Attorney General interposed no objection to this amendment on 7/6/1979).
