Section 97-17-83 - Trees; injuring or destroying shade or ornamental tree

If any person shall wilfully injure or destroy any shade tree or any ornamental tree not his own, on any highway or street, or in any yard, garden, or park, he shall, on conviction, be fined not less than five dollars nor more than twenty dollars for each tree so injured or destroyed, or shall be imprisoned in the county jail not less than ten days nor more than thirty days for each offense.Codes, 1892, § 1319; 1906, § 1393; Hemingway's 1917, § 1136; 1930, § 1167; 1942, § 2410.
