If any person, in order to raise money for himself or another, or for any purpose whatever, shall publicly or privately put up a lottery to be drawn or adventured for, he shall, on conviction, be imprisoned in the Penitentiary not exceeding five (5) years.This section shall not apply to the operation of any game or lottery authorized by Chapter 115, Title 27.Codes, Hutchinson's 1848, ch. 64, art. 3(23); 1857, ch. 64, art. 141; 1871, § 2605; 1880, § 2851; 1892, § 1199; 1906, § 1277; Hemingway's 1917, § 1009; 1930, § 1038; 1942, § 2270.Amended by Laws, 2018EX1, ch. 2, SB 2001,§ 58, eff. 9/1/2018.
