Every person who fraudulently alters, destroys, or mutilates the enrolled copy of any bill or resolution which has been passed or adopted by the legislature of this state, with intent to procure it to be approved by the governor, or certified by the secretary of state, or printed or published as a statute or law, in language different from that in which it was passed or adopted by the legislature, shall be guilty of a felony, and, upon conviction, shall be punished by imprisonment in the penitentiary not exceeding ten years.Codes, 1892, § 1192; 1906, § 1270; Hemingway's 1917, § 1000; 1930, § 1029; 1942, § 2261.
