Title VI COUNTY, TOWNSHIP AND POLITICAL SUBDIVISION GOVERNMENT Chapter 57 Effective - 28 Aug 1959 57.119. Deputy sheriffs, temporary appointment. — In any emergency the sheriff shall appoint sworn deputies, who are residents of the county, possessing all the qualifications of sheriff. The deputies shall serve not exceeding thirty days, and shall possess all the powers and perform all the duties of deputy sheriffs, with like responsibilities, and for their services shall receive two dollars per day, to be paid out of the county treasury. -------- (RSMo 1939 § 13136, A.L. 1959 S.B. 68) Prior revisions: 1929 § 11516; 1919 § 11640; 1909 § 11210 (1953) Powers and duties of emergency deputy sheriff appointed under this section are limited primarily to the county for which he is commissioned and such powers do not exist when deputy is in another county for purposes of his own.
