Title VII CITIES, TOWNS AND VILLAGES Chapter 71 • Effective - 28 Aug 1939 71.040. Duty of the secretary of state. — The secretary of state shall, as soon as practicable after the passage of this law, communicate with the county clerks in each county in this state, and ascertain the names of all cities, towns, villages or other municipal corporations therein, and arrange such names in alphabetical order for convenient reference.
