Title XI EDUCATION AND LIBRARIES Chapter 178 • Effective - 28 Aug 1984 178.691. Definitions. — As used in sections 178.691 to 178.699, unless the context requires otherwise: (1) 'Developmental screening' is the process of measuring the progress of children to determine if there are problems or potential problems or advanced abilities in the areas of understanding and use of language, perception through sight, perception through hearing, motor development and hand-eye coordination, health, and physical development. (2) 'Developmentally delayed children' are children who, through developmental screening, are found to be performing below the norm for their age in one or more of the following skill areas: understanding and use of language, perception through sight, perception through hearing, motor development and hand-eye coordination. (3) 'Handicapped children' and 'severely handicapped children' are those so defined in section 162.675. (4) 'Parent education' includes the provision of resource materials on home learning activities, private and group educational guidance, individual and group learning experiences for the parent and child, and other activities that enable the parent
